Stratacent is looking for Broadcom Endevor Administrator to manage and enhance our mainframe software configuration management platform. The candidate will be responsible for Endevor administration, release controls, automation and CI/CD integration, and operational support working closely with application teams, release management, and z/OS platform services to ensure secure, stable and efficient software delivery.
Role purpose
Own the day-to-day administration, stability, and evolution of
Broadcom Endevor SCM on z/OS, ensuring reliable software promotion, strong controls, and smooth CI/CD integration for mainframe application teams.
Key responsibilities
- Platform administration
- Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade Endevor components (including processors, environments, stages, systems, and elements).
- Manage Endevor datasets, libraries, packages, and repository performance/housekeeping.
- Own Endevor started tasks, ISPF panels, batch utilities, exits, and security integration.
- Release & change management
- Design and maintain promotion paths, mappings, and governance aligned to SDLC controls.
- Administer packages (creation, validation, approvals, backouts, emergency fixes).
- Support audit-ready traceability across dev/test/prod and enforce separation of duties where required.
- Automation & CI/CD integration
- Integrate Endevor with scheduling/build tools and pipelines (e.g., Jenkins/UrbanCode/other orchestration) using APIs/utilities where applicable.
- Build and maintain processor groups and automation for builds, compiles, link-edits, and deploy steps.
- Standardise developer workflows (element add/update/move, generate, signout/signin) and reduce manual steps.
- Security & compliance
- Implement and maintain security rules for Endevor resources (typically via RACF/ACF2/Top Secret), including role-based access and approvals.
- Maintain controls for privileged access, audit evidence, and retention of change history.
- Operational support
- Monitor service health, capacity, and performance; resolve incidents and problems (SLA-driven).
- Provide L2/L3 support for Endevor issues: processor failures, footprint problems, package errors, mapping conflicts, dataset contention, etc.
- Coordinate with z/OS systems programmers, storage, network, and application teams for cross-platform issues.
- Documentation & stakeholder management
- Maintain runbooks, standards, and operating procedures.
- Deliver knowledge transfer, training, and consultation to engineering/release teams.
- Drive continuous improvement, tooling upgrades, and simplification initiatives.
Required skills & experience
- Strong hands-on experience administering Broadcom Endevor SCM in enterprise z/OS environments.
- Solid z/OS fundamentals: JCL, TSO/ISPF, datasets (PDS/E/PDSE), SMS concepts, batch troubleshooting.
- Experience with Endevor constructs: environments/stages/systems/subsystems, processors, packages, approvals, footprints, exits.
- Mainframe build toolchain knowledge (e.g., COBOL, PL/I, Assembler, C, DB2, CICS, IMS; compile/link-edit processes).
- Security administration exposure (RACF/ACF2/TSS) for access controls and audit requirements.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with logs, dumps (where relevant), and vendor diagnostics.
Preferred / nice-to-have
- Experience with DevOps for mainframe (pipeline orchestration, Git integration patterns, automated builds/deploys).
- Broadcom ecosystem familiarity (e.g., CA/Broadcom utilities, Common Services, OPS/MVS where relevant in your environment).
- Experience designing/maintaining processor libraries and standard build frameworks.
- ITIL practices: incident/problem/change management; on-call support experience.
Typical deliverables / outcomes
- High availability and predictable Endevor performance.
- Standardised promotion and packaging processes with measurable cycle-time improvements.
- Reduced build failures through processor standardisation and automation.
- Audit-ready change traceability and compliant access controls.
- Clear runbooks and a supportable operating model.
