Job Description

This role is term time plus two week.

We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Attendance Officer to play a key role in improving student attendance and engagement across the school. This role is vital in promoting a positive culture of attendance and ensuring the school meets statutory attendance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor and manage daily student attendance, ensuring registers are accurate and compliant with statutory guidance.
Act as a key point of contact for attendance matters, working closely with parents/carers to follow up on absences and lateness.
Identify patterns of poor attendance and work proactively with students, families, and staff to improve engagement and attendance outcomes.
Coordinate targeted interventions for students with persistent absence, including arranging meetings, action plans, and follow-up support.
Conduct home visits where appropriate to strengthen relationships with families and address barriers to attendance.
Work collaboratively with safeguarding, pastoral, and senior leadership teams to respond to welfare concerns linked to attendance.
Liaise with external agencies, including the Local Authority and other support services, to ensure appropriate support and compliance with attendance regulations.
Support formal attendance processes, including the preparation of documentation for penalty notices and other enforcement actions where necessary.
Maintain accurate attendance records and produce regular reports to support monitoring and strategic decision-making.
Promote a positive culture of attendance and punctuality across the school community.
