About the Company

RM Builders and Contractors Ltd is a growing construction company delivering high-quality residential and commercial building projects. We pride ourselves on professionalism, attention to detail, and strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join our team. The role will suit a commercially aware individual with proven site experience, capable of managing costs from tender stage through to final account. The position can be offered on a full-time or part-time basis, depending on the candidate’s availability and experience.

Key Responsibilities

· Prepare accurate cost estimates, budgets, and tender submissions

· Carry out take-offs and pricing from drawings and specifications

· Manage project costs, valuations, and cash flow

· Prepare interim valuations, variations, and final accounts

· Procure subcontractors and materials for tenders

· Negotiate prices and agreements with suppliers and subcontractors for tenders

· Monitor project progress and report on cost performance

· Work closely with site managers and directors to ensure commercial control

· Attend site meetings and conduct regular site visits

· Ensure projects are delivered within budget and to programme

Essential Requirements

· Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor and/or Estimator

· Strong site-based experience within the construction industry

· Sound knowledge of construction methods and materials

· Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications

· Good commercial awareness and cost control skills

· Strong negotiation and communication skills

· Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects

· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating software

· Full UK driving licence (preferred due to site visits)

Desirable Qualifications

· Degree or qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or similar

· Membership or working towards membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. RICS, CIOB)
