Job Description:

The Beer Hall is Bowland Brewery’s flagship tasting parlour… and what a flagship it is!

One of the longest bars in Britain – 105ft 4”- is home to 42 hand pulls and hosts a minimum of 24 individual cask beers at any one time. There’s also a bank of bespoke keg beers and lagers too, not to mention an ever-changing selection of ciders. Then there’s the bottled beers and the cans… not quite every beer you can think of, more an expertly curated selection – that changes every week!

We are looking for a Cellar Manager to support our ever-growing team and to assist the Bar Manager, in ensuring we consistently deliver excellent service, along with a quality product. The ideal candidate will consider themselves a ‘Champion of Beer’ and display the thirst for knowledge, not just on all things Bowland, but all things beer! We are looking for candidates with real personality, passion for our industry and a hunger to share their knowledge with the team.

As Cellar Manager, you will be expected to deliver in the following areas:

The Job Role

· Oversee the management of two cellars and four bars

· Organise stock rotation and replenishment.

· Regular cleaning of dispense lines between the cellar and fonts on the bar counter.

· Accepting and checking deliveries, returning empty casks and kegs, carbon dioxide cylinders, bottles, crates and other items which are recycled or reused, tidying and cleaning the cellar, and issuing stocks to bars.

· To ensure health and safety rules are complied with at all times.

· Maintaining of Cellar with weekly stock take.

· Implement procedures to record wastage/transfers/discounts etc.

· Having a presence on the bar during peak operation times to ensure we are offering the perfect pour and engaging with guests about our products

· Training of the team and being our ‘Champion of Beer’, passing on this information to the team and making sure they have the knowledge to pass on to the customers.

· Reporting directly to the General Manger

The Requirements

Good understanding of stock management and cellars
Enthusiasm and willingness to progress your career under an established general manager
Organisational skills
Communication skills
Safe working practises/ health and safety; familiar with the regulations on manual handling, the use and storage of hazardous substances, and electrical equipment
Extremely passionate about Quality of product and service, in particular when it comes to cask ales
Understanding of Customer expectations
Basic understanding of Technical Services
Be able to work part of a team
Be available to work evenings and weekends
Knowledge of the best working practices for cask ale, including an understanding of attemperator, conditioning and quality prior to dispense
The passion and ambition to take hold of an opportunity.
Physically demanding role.

Pay: Up to £35,000.00 per year
