Full job description

Burton Addiction and O'Connor Centres is an award-winning organisation providing specialist support to individuals experiencing drug and alcohol problems. We deliver a comprehensive range of services, including medically supervised detoxification, residential rehabilitation, recovery housing, social enterprises, and community-based therapeutic programmes.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Detox Support Worker to provide safe, effective, compassionate and person-centred care to residents receiving medically supervised detoxification for substance dependence. Working on a day and night rota alongside our registered Detox Nurses, the post holder supports delivery of regulated activities in accordance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014, CQC Fundamental Standards, organisational policies and professional guidance.

Offer emotional and practical support to clients during their detoxification process, fostering a safe and supportive environment.
Assist with physical observations and accurately record results following training and competency assessment.
Support the safe administration of medicines under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse and in line with medicines management policies ensuring correct procedures are followed.
Observe, monitor and promptly escalate changes in residents' physical or mental wellbeing.
Complete admission documentation, non-clinical risk assessments and person-centred non-medical care plans.
Maintain accurate, contemporaneous records.
Promote dignity, privacy, equality, diversity and human rights.
Support residents with daily living activities, emotional wellbeing and recovery.
Participate in clinical handovers, supervision and mandatory training.
Maintain a safe, clean and therapeutic environment.
Uphold confidentiality and adhere strictly to safeguarding protocols at all times.

Experience

Do you have:

Experience in health, social care, mental health or substance misuse services.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to complete accurate records.
Commitment to person-centred care.
Willingness to work rotational day/night shifts.
The ability to work within policies, procedures and delegated responsibilities.
Experience within detoxification or residential rehabilitation.
Hold the Care Certificate or Level 2/3 Health & Social Care.
Knowledge of CQC Fundamental Standards.
Basic Life Support and First Aid.
Experience undertaking basic observations and supporting medicines administration.
