Job Overview

Olive kitchen Somerset: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Head Chef to support our culinary team in delivering exceptional dining experiences. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supervising kitchen operations, managing food production, and ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a passionate culinary professional to develop leadership skills within a dynamic hospitality environment.

Responsibilities

Assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth workflow and high standards of food preparation.
Supervise and support kitchen staff, including cooks and junior chefs, fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment.
Contribute to menu planning, recipe development, and food presentation to maintain consistency and innovation.
Manage food production processes, ensuring timely delivery of dishes without compromising quality.
Maintain strict adherence to food safety regulations and hygiene standards across all kitchen activities.
Monitor stock levels, assist with inventory control, and ensure proper storage of ingredients and supplies.
Support training programmes for new staff members and ongoing skill development for existing team members.
Assist with serving customers when required, ensuring excellent customer service standards are met.

Requirements

Proven experience in a supervisory role within a professional kitchen environment, ideally with restaurant experience.
Strong background in food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen management.
Demonstrable leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team effectively.
Extensive knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hospitality settings.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under pressure.
Experience in menu development, food presentation, and maintaining high standards of quality.
Good communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and other departments.
A passion for culinary excellence and a commitment to delivering outstanding guest experiences.

Pay: From £15.00 per hour
