JOB PURPOSE:
As a Network Infrastructure Project Manager, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of structured cabling and fibre optic infrastructure projects from initial handover through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
The role will involve managing projects covering Structured Cabling Systems (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, Cat7 and Cat8), Fibre Optic Cabling (Single Mode and Multi-Mode), Containment Systems, Cabinet Installations, Network Equipment Installation and associated passive infrastructure for a wide range of commercial, industrial, education, healthcare and public sector clients.
Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will oversee all aspects of project delivery, including planning, programming, procurement, financial performance, resource allocation, subcontractor management, client liaison and final handover.
You will work closely with customers, consultants, principal contractors, suppliers, subcontractors and internal departments to ensure projects are delivered in accordance with company procedures, contractual requirements, industry standards and best practice.
You will demonstrate a sound understanding of structured cabling standards including British Standards, CDM Regulations, relevant Health & Safety legislation and manufacturer installation standards and warranty requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Project Management & Delivery
Manage multiple Data & Fibre Cabling projects from contract award through to final
completion and handover.
Develop project programmes and ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and
within agreed timescales.
Coordinate engineering resources, subcontractors and suppliers to achieve project
objectives.
Monitor project progress, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions
where required.
Ensure projects are delivered within agreed budgets and monitor project
profitability.
Attend project meetings with clients, consultants, contractors and internal
departments.
Manage project variations, quotations and additional works.
Ensure all project documentation is completed accurately and maintained
throughout the project lifecycle.
Coordinate testing, certification, commissioning and project handover.
Resolve project issues promptly whilst maintaining excellent customer satisfaction.
Commercial & Financial Responsibilities
Monitor project costs, labour utilisation and material expenditure.
Review project budgets and report financial performance to senior management.
Authorise purchase orders and ensure materials are procured in line with project
requirements.
Review supplier and subcontractor quotations.
Manage subcontractor performance and quality.
Assist with forecasting, resource planning and workload scheduling.
Support the preparation of quotations for project variations and additional works.
Technical Management
Provide technical guidance and support to installation engineers throughout project
delivery.
Review drawings, schematics, cable schedules and technical specifications.
Ensure structured cabling installations comply with industry standards and
manufacturer requirements.
Ensure fibre optic installations are completed, tested and certified to recognised
industry standards.
Liaise with manufacturers regarding product selection, warranties and technical
support.
Ensure OTDR, fibre loss testing, copper certification and associated documentation
are completed correctly.
Assist engineers in resolving technical issues encountered on site.
Ensure installations are completed to a high standard to achieve manufacturer
certification where applicable.
Customer Relationship Management
Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, consultants and
contractors.
Act as the primary point of contact throughout project delivery.
Provide regular project updates and communicate programme changes.
Manage customer expectations professionally and proactively.
Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction throughout each project.
Attend client progress meetings and provide project reporting where required.
Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ)
Promote a positive Health & Safety culture across all projects.
Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with company Health, Safety,
Environmental and Quality procedures.
Review and approve Risk Assessments, Method Statements and Safe Systems of
Work.
Ensure engineers and subcontractors comply with company and client Health &
Safety requirements.
Carry out site inspections and quality audits.
Report hazards, incidents, accidents and near misses in accordance with company
procedures.
Ensure company vehicles, plant, tools and testing equipment are used safely and
responsibly.
Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and site-specific requirements.
Adhere to all responsibilities outlined within the Company Health, Safety &
Environmental Policy Manual.
Team Leadership
Plan and allocate workloads across engineering teams.
Provide leadership, coaching and technical support to engineers.
Monitor engineer performance and identify training and development requirements.
Support recruitment, onboarding and development of engineering staff.
Conduct toolbox talks, site briefings and project meetings.
Promote continuous improvement across project delivery processes.
Encourage compliance with manufacturer training and accreditation programmes.
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure all project records are maintained accurately using company systems.
Review cable test results, fibre certification reports and quality documentation.
Ensure project documentation, as-built drawings and O&M manuals are completed
accurately.
Ensure projects comply with contractual obligations, company procedures and
industry standards.
Maintain accurate records of project progress, variations and customer
communications.
Support internal and external audits where required.
Ensure manufacturer warranty documentation is completed and submitted were
applicable.
General
Complete all company documentation accurately and within required timescales.
Maintain a professional appearance and uphold ACEDA Ltd's reputation when
representing the company.
Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Projects team.
Attend training courses and maintain relevant industry qualifications and
competencies.
Keep up to date with emerging structured cabling technologies, fibre standards and
installation techniques.
Undertake additional duties as reasonably required to meet business needs.
