The Role
As our new Senior Haulage Planner, you'll be responsible for leading the daily transport operations. This role involves managing complex logistics planning, supervising a team of Transport Planners ensuring efficient, compliant and cost-effective fleet utilisation. This role will play a key role in improving operational performance and supporting strategic transport objectives.

Key Responsibilities for Senior General Haulage Planner
Lead and coordinate daily planning of haulage operations across the fleet.
Supervise and support a team of Transport Planners providing guidance and training.
Allocate loads and optimise routes to maximise efficiency and profitability.
Monitor fleet performance, KPIs, and service levels, implementing improvements where needed.
Ensure full compliance with UK driver hours, tachograph regulations, and legal requirements.
Act as the main escalation point for operational issues, including delays, breakdowns and service disruptions.
Liaise with key customers, suppliers, and internal departments to maintain high service standards.
Analyse transport data to identify cost-saving opportunities and operational efficiencies.
Oversee vehicle utilisation, backloading, and route optimisation strategies.
Assist senior management with planning strategy, budgeting and forecasting.
About You
We're looking for someone who brings:
Proven experience in a senior transport planning or haulage planning role.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent knowledge of UK road networks and transport regulations.
Advanced organisational and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to make decisions under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
High level of IT proficiency, including Microsoft Excel.
Experience with fleet tracking and logistics platforms.
Experience managing large or multi-site transport operations.
Strong analytical skills with experience in performance reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
CPC Transport Management qualified.
Experience using Samsara or Orbcomm.
