GROUNDWORKS OPERATIVE / TRAINEE GSHP PIPE FITTER
Location: Based from Prudhoe, with travel to construction sites throughout the UK
Employment: Permanent, full-time
Pay: £16.00–£19.00 per hour, depending on experience
Leazes Energy is looking for a reliable and hardworking operative to join our growing team.
The position will initially involve general groundworks and supporting the installation of ground-source heat pump pipework. Previous GSHP or pipe-fitting experience is not essential, as full training will be provided to the right person.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to develop specialist skills in PE pipework, electrofusion welding, manifold installations and pressure testing.
The role will include:
- Assisting with groundworks, excavations and reinstatement
- Handling, positioning and installing polyethylene pipework
- Supporting borehole and ground-array connections
- Assisting with manifold chamber and header pipe installations
- Learning electrofusion welding and specialist GSHP pipe-fitting techniques
- Assisting with pressure testing and quality-control records
- Loading, unloading and maintaining tools and equipment
- Following site RAMS, PPE requirements and health and safety procedures
- Working to the workmanship and conduct standards expected by Leazes Energy
Essential requirements:
- Full UK driving licence
- Able to satisfy the company’s vehicle insurance requirements
- Valid CSCS card or recognised equivalent appropriate to the role
- Previous construction, groundworks or practical site experience
- Willingness to travel throughout the UK and work away when required
- Reliable timekeeping and good communication
- Safety-conscious, physically capable and willing to work outdoors
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn specialist pipe-fitting skills
Desirable but not essential:
- Groundworks or utilities experience
- CPCS or NPORS plant qualifications
- Dumper, roller, excavator or telehandler experience
- Previous PE pipework or electrofusion experience
- Manual handling, and underground-services training
Leazes Energy will provide role-specific training and the opportunity to progress into a skilled GSHP pipe-fitting position.
