Full job description

Medical Secretary Testvale Surgery, Totton, Southampton 19 hours per week.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, accomplished and self-motivated medical secretary to join our team. Testvale Surgery is a highly performing GP Practice that delivers excellent standards in patient care to our 14,100 patients.

The hours required are as follows :

Wednesday 10.00 a.m. to 15.00 p.m. (5)

Thursday 08.30 a.m. to 17.30 p.m. (8)

Friday 12.30 a.m. to 18.30 p.m. (6)

The role will be challenging and rewarding and will provide the candidate with the opportunity for advancement and development. Informal visits to the Practice are welcome.

We are looking to appoint a Medical Secretary who possesses the skills to support the smooth day to day running of the Practice. The key elements of this role include:

Ability to perform secretarial roles confidently such as transcribing, audio typing, letter and report writing;

Making electronic referrals and bookings through the Choose and Book Service;

Attending meetings to take and distribute minutes;

Dealing with telephone enquiries and the appropriate use of the practice clinical system.

The successful candidate will possess professional secretarial qualifications and a good general education to GCSE standard. You will have previous secretarial experience, ideally working in the National Health Service along with strong medical terminology skills.
