Role Purpose
Glaston Development Trust is looking for an enthusiastic and results-driven Development Manager to become a key part of our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in securing funding to advance the organisation’s essential initiatives, which focus on e.g., community development, youth engagement, and environmental sustainability.
The role of the Development Manager will drive fundraising, manage community programmes, and handle facility operations to advance Galston Development Trust’s local initiatives. Based primarily at The Portland, Galston, this position combines strategic donor outreach with hands-on operational leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive research to identify potential funding sources, including trusts, foundations, government grants, and corporate sponsorships.
- Maintain an up-to-date database of funding opportunities, deadlines, and requirements.
- Develop and manage a well-structured funding pipeline to support the organisation’s objectives.
- Participate in monthly meetings, presentations and prepare comprehensive reports for Galston Development Trust, and provide regular updates to the Chairperson, trustees, and stakeholders.
- Oversee the end-to-end booking process for facility lets while maintaining health, safety, and regulatory compliance across all activities.

- Proven Grant Writing and Fundraising Success: Demonstrated ability to secure funding through effective grant applications and innovative fundraising initiatives.
- Exceptional Communication Skills: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills to engage stakeholders, craft persuasive proposals, and maintain clear reporting.
- Strong Research and Analytical Abilities: Proficient in conducting in-depth research, analysing data, and applying insights to inform project development and decision-making.
- Collaborative and Independent Work Ethic: Capable of thriving both independently and as an integral part of a dynamic team.
- Outstanding Organisational Skills: Expertise in managing multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Financial Acumen: Skilled in financial reporting, budget management, and ensuring alignment with project objectives and funding requirements.

Desirable Skills and Experience
- Community Engagement Expertise: Proven experience working with community-based organizations to deliver impactful projects and initiatives.
- Knowledge of Local Funding Networks: Familiarity with funding sources and grant opportunities specific to East Ayrshire, including local councils, trusts, and community programs.
- Digital and Social Media Fundraising: Competence in leveraging social media platforms and digital tools to drive fundraising campaigns and increase donor engagement.
- Event Planning and Coordination: Experience in planning, organizing, and executing successful events, from concept development to post-event evaluation.
Management Responsibilities
- Oversee and supervise the day-to-day operations of the after-school club, including sessional staff, volunteers, activity delivery, safeguarding compliance and training.
- Handle inquiries, scheduling, and administrative arrangements for facility and room lets.
- Ensure all let activities strictly adhere to organisational, health, safety and safeguarding policies.
- Support the planning and delivery of fundraising initiatives, including galas, auctions, and community events.

Additional Information
The role will be based primarily at The Portland, Galston. Evening and weekend work will occasionally be required.
