The role:

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a Health Care Support Worker to join our Adult Perioperative Department at Inverclyde Royal Hospital. Working as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you will support patients throughout their perioperative journey, helping to deliver safe, effective and person-centred care. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Permanent, full-time
Day & night shifts

Key responsibilities:

Support registered practitioners and the wider multidisciplinary team in delivering high-quality care to patients before, during and after surgical procedures
Assist with the safe movement, transfer and positioning of patients within the perioperative environment
Prepare, set up, clean and maintain a range of theatre equipment and clinical areas to support surgical services
Assist with stock management, equipment checks and the preparation of supplies required for theatre lists
Accurately document patient and procedural information using electronic systems and departmental records
Support specimen handling, clinical waste management and infection prevention procedures in line with local policies
Contribute to a positive team culture while promoting patient safety, dignity and person-centred care at all times

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Demonstrable caring, compassionate and patient-focused approach to supporting individuals in a healthcare setting
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team in a busy clinical environment
Good communication, literacy, numeracy and basic IT skills with the ability to accurately record information
Willingness to undertake and complete all required in-house training, induction programmes and mandatory learning modules
Understanding of, or willingness to learn, key healthcare policies including infection prevention, health and safety and manual handling practices
Ability to follow standard operating procedures and work safely under the guidance of registered practitioners
Flexible and motivated approach with a willingness to develop a broad range of perioperative knowledge and transferable skills across theatre specialties
