Tolcarne isn’t your average workplace, and we don’t want our social media to look like everyone else’s either.
We’re looking for a creative, confident and naturally curious Social Media & Events Coordinator to join the team at Tolcarne Beach.
Someone who spots a great photo before anyone else. Someone who loves a good story. Someone who can turn a rainy morning, a busy beach, a brilliant wedding, a plate of food or one of our wonderfully quirky characters into something people want to see.
We want you to bring ideas, bring energy and help us capture what makes Tolcarne unique, the people, the personalities, the atmosphere, the unexpected moments and the fun of our little beach village.
Alongside social media, you’ll be involved in promoting and helping organise weddings, restaurant events, retreats, live music, seasonal happenings and other special occasions across the beach. Working alongside our restaurant team.
It’s a varied, hands-on role, and no two days are likely to look quite the same.
There will be a day a week in the beach reception.
What you’ll be doing
Social media & content
You’ll help bring Tolcarne to life across Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.
- Planning and managing content across our social channels
- Creating photography, video, Reels and Stories
- Capturing the real life of Tolcarne — the beach, accommodation, restaurant, events, team and all the little moments in between
- Finding the stories, characters and quirks that make our beach village different
- Writing engaging, personality-filled captions that sound like us
- Keeping an eye on trends and knowing when to jump on one — and when to do our own thing
- Managing our social media calendar and scheduling content
- Responding to comments and messages and building our online community
- Working with the wider team to shout about offers, events and seasonal activity
- Looking at what’s working and using insights to make our content even better
- Most importantly, bringing new ideas and making things happen
We’re not looking for someone who simply ticks off a content calendar. We want someone who can walk onto the beach and think, “That would make a great Reel.”
Events
You’ll also get stuck into the exciting world of events at Tolcarne.
This could include:
- Weddings and private celebrations
- Restaurant events and special evenings
- Retreats and wellness events
- Seasonal events
- Live music and entertainment
- Collaborations
- New events and ideas that we haven’t even thought of yet!
You’ll help with event promotion, content creation, planning and communication, working alongside the relevant teams and getting involved on the day to help everything run smoothly.
And yes, there will be times when you’re covered in sand, running around with a camera, helping set something up or capturing the moment while everyone else is having fun. That’s part of the job.
Some evening and weekend work will be required, particularly during busy event periods.
About you
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Creative and full of ideas
- Confident behind a camera or phone
- Naturally social and comfortable talking to people
- Organised enough to turn ideas into reality
- Curious about what makes a place and its people interesting
- Comfortable creating short-form video and Reels
- A strong writer with a good feel for tone and personality
- Happy working independently and taking ownership
- Excited by a busy, slightly unpredictable hospitality and events environment
- Not afraid to get stuck in
- Someone who brings fun, energy and a fresh perspective
You’ll ideally have previous experience in social media, content creation, marketing, events, hospitality or a similar role.
Experience within hospitality, tourism, weddings or events would be a bonus, but personality, creativity and ideas are just as important to us.
Experience with Canva, CapCut, Adobe or similar creative platforms would also be useful.

Location: Tolcarne Beach, Newquay
Hours: 30 a week (increase in the school holidays)
Hourly: £13.80
Evening & weekend work: Required when events demand
