Job Title: Head of Quality, Risk & Insights

Salary: Competitive

Role Overview

The Head of Quality, Risk & Insight leads the organisation's approach to quality intelligence, governance and organisational learning, ensuring data, insight and evidence drive continuous improvement and enhance outcomes for people we support.

We are passionate about delivering consistent and reliable experiences to the people we support and the Head of Quality, Risk & Insight will provide strategic oversight of performance risk, investigations and organisational learning, transforming complex information into meaningful intelligence that supports decision-making, strengthens governance and improves safety and regulatory compliance.

The Head of Quality, Risk & Insight will develop a high-performing team responsible for investigations, complaints and feedback, quality insights, incidents and embedding a culture of curiosity, transparency and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the organisation's quality intelligence and risk strategy, ensuring data and insight inform quality improvement and organisational decision-making.

Maintain oversight of the Quality Risk Register, identifying emerging risks, trends and opportunities through the triangulation of data from multiple sources.

Lead serious incident reviews, thematic reviews and complex investigations, ensuring robust root cause analysis, high-quality reporting and organisational learning.

Oversee complaints, satisfaction surveys, Speak Up Guardian arrangements and organisational feedback mechanisms, ensuring themes are identified and improvements implemented.

Lead the development, review and governance of relevant policies, procedures and system controls.

Oversee governance of event reporting, system change control and quality reporting, ensuring accurate and effective use of digital systems to support governance and compliance.

Develop and present high-quality reports, dashboards and risk analysis to Executive Committees, Boards and governance forums, providing clear recommendations and assurance.

Drive organisational learning by ensuring lessons from incidents, complaints, audits and inspections are translated into meaningful improvements across services.

Lead and develop a team responsible for investigations, quality intelligence and governance, creating a culture of accountability, analytical thinking and continuous improvement.

Work collaboratively with operational, clinical and quality leaders to ensure quality intelligence supports service improvement and regulatory compliance.

Person Specification:

Essential

Experience in quality, governance, risk or operational leadership within adult social care, healthcare or another regulated environment.

Strong sector knowledge, with the ability to contextualise intelligence, assess organisational risk and make evidence-based recommendations.

Excellent investigation, root cause analysis and report-writing skills, with experience leading complex reviews and presenting findings to senior stakeholders.

Highly analytical, with the ability to interrogate data, identify trends and translate insight into practical improvement actions.

Experience implementing and developing digital quality or care management systems, ideally Nourish.

Strong understanding of governance, regulatory compliance and quality assurance frameworks.

Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.

Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams, driving accountability and continuous improvement.

Curious, proactive and resilient, with a passion for using insight and learning to improve quality and outcomes.

Desirable

Professional qualification in health, social care, governance, quality improvement or a related discipline.

Experience supporting services for people with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs.

Knowledge of CQC and CIW regulatory frameworks and quality governance requirements.
