NYBEP is looking for a passionate, knowledgeable and engaging Careers Adviserto join our Delivery Team and provide high-quality Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance to young people and adults.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in helping participants understand their aspirations, recognise their strengths and overcome barriers to progression. Through personalised guidance, engaging workshops and strong partnerships, you’ll support individuals to make informed decisions about their next steps in education, training and employment.
What the Careers Adviser job involves?
As a Careers Adviser, you’ll work across NYBEP’s services to deliver high-quality careers offer that meets the individual needs of participants, schools and partners. Your role will include:
✨ Supporting schools, colleges and education partners to develop effective careers programmes aligned with relevant frameworks, including the Gatsby Benchmarks where appropriate.
✨ Building positive relationships with employers, training providers, universities and other partners to create effective progression pathways.
✨ Keeping your knowledge up to date on education pathways, apprenticeships, employment opportunities and labour market information.
✨ Supporting participants who may require additional guidance to overcome barriers and achieve positive progression outcomes.
✨ Working collaboratively with the wider Delivery Team to ensure participants receive a coordinated and effective support offer.
✨ Accurately recording participant activity, outcomes and impact information to support contract reporting and quality assurance.
✨ Contributing to the evaluation and continuous improvement of our CEIAG services through customer feedback, data analysis and reflective practice.
✨ Supporting the achievement of contractual targets relating to participation, engagement, progression and outcomes.
This is a varied role where no two days are likely to be the same. You’ll need to be resilient, adaptable and solutions-focused, with the confidence to use your initiative, bring forward new ideas and find creative ways to achieve positive outcomes.
We’re looking for someone who is...
✨ Passionate about careers guidance and committed to helping people make informed choices about their future.
✨ Qualified or working towards Level 6 (or equivalent) in Career Guidance and Development, with a successful track record of providing careers guidance.
✨ Knowledgeable about careers and labour market information, with an understanding of the education, employment and youth sectors and the wider priorities affecting progression.
✨ A confident communicator, able to build rapport and credibility with young people, adults, schools, employers and other partners.
✨ An engaging facilitator, who can confidently design and deliver sessions for both large and small groups.
✨ Organised and able to manage multiple priorities, with good project management skills and experience of working across multiple projects.
✨ Resilient and adaptable, able to manage uncertainty, overcome obstacles and remain focused on delivering a high-quality service.
✨ Creative and proactive, with the confidence to challenge the status quo, put forward new ideas and take initiative to improve outcomes.
Most importantly, you’ll be someone who believes in the potential of people and wants to make a genuine difference to their future.
