Full job description

Job Overview

We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Volunteer Gardening and Maintenance Helpers to support our growing spaces and wellbeing projects. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy helping with horticulture, landscape maintenance, and environmental stewardship to gain practical experience while contributing to keeoing wellbeing spaces tidy and presentable. The position is unpaid and voluntary and suitable for those looking to develop their gardening skills in a supportive environment.

Duties

Assist with planting, pruning, weeding, and general garden upkeep using mostly hand tools.
Support irrigation tasks, including maintaining watering systems to ensure healthy plant growth.
Help with the installation and maintenance of landscape features, including pathways, flower beds, and decorative elements.
Operate various gardening equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to health and safety guidelines. This includes petrol lawn mower.
Maintain cleanliness of work areas by disposing of garden waste responsibly and ensuring tools are stored correctly and safely.
Collaborate with team members both staff and other volunteers, to plan seasonal planting schedules and garden improvements.
Support the organisation of on site open day events by helping us to display the growing spaces at their best to visitors.

Qualifications

Experience or interest in gardening, horticulture, or landscape maintenance is desirable.
Familiarity with hand tools, irrigation systems, and some power tools used in gardening tasks and the ability to use equipment safely.
Basic knowledge of plant care, growing techniques, and sustainable gardening practices is ideal.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions with physical stamina for manual tasks.
Good organisational skills and the ability to follow instructions carefully.
A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and team spirit are essential qualities for this role.

This volunteer position provides valuable hands-on experience in gardening and landscape maintenance.
