The Avon and Somerset Police History and Heritage Working Group are looking for people to join the team of enthusiastic volunteers.
These are all the aspects which will be undertaken by volunteers. Volunteers may wish to only undertake the aspects they feel comfortable doing:
Assisting with the storage, cleaning and labelling of items in the archive, including uniform, photographs, documents and equipment including items used for personal safety
Arranging and rotating interesting uniform and artefact displays in the force museum, including signage and information sheets where appropriate.
Engaging positively with internal and external stakeholders (including members of the public) delivering talks or presentations based on the force’s History and Heritage.
Maintaining the History and Heritage electronic archive (adding new entries, regular archive backup, information, improving data quality, sharing archive content where appropriate)
Scanning or transcribing hard copy documents for future preservation
Monitoring the group mailbox and responding to internal and external enquiries in a professional manner
Arranging collection of donations (using ASC resource)
To attend and contribute to meetings of the H&H Group either electronically or in person.
Do you have some of the following skills & experience?
Computer literacy including familiarity with Outlook (training will be provided on the force archive)
Attention to detail
The ability to collate and present information to various audiences
Good presentation skills
Passion for preserving and sharing the history of policing
Eligibility
All applicants will be subject to the Force Vetting Policy and will be required to undertake and maintain the appropriate level of safeguarding training for the role.
Avon and Somerset Constabulary is fully committed to the safeguarding and promotion of welfare of children and young people. The role you have applied for requires you to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check (DBS) every three years.
