Job Title: Pre-16 Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

Location: Highbury and North Harbour (Main Campus Highbury)

Salary: Actual salary pro-rata, Full Time Equivalent £24,521.29 – £25,210.25 per annum

Hours of work: Various Hours Available, up to 36 Weeks per year (Term Time only), Full/Part-Time, Sessional

About The Role:

As a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) at City of Portsmouth College, you will be required to support our students who have special educational needs students attending our 14 to 16 alternative provision programmes. Support may be provided on a 1:1 basis or small groups within a classroom setting to help students engage positively with learning, develop confidence, and achieve their individual goals. You may be required to support our students during break and lunch times and on external outings. Working closely with teaching staff and the Pre 16 Coordination you will support the students as stated within their Educational Health Care Plan requirements whilst promoting independence and high expectations at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

Supporting students with Special Educational Needs
Monitoring and recording students’ progress
Work collaboratively with the class teachers and other college staff

To be successful in this role, below is what we would need from you:

Ability to support young people
Excellent communication skills
Good literacy and numeracy skills
Excellent interpersonal and organisational skill
Knowledge of working with young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
Proficient in Microsoft Suite
