Full job description

Job Title: Resettlement Worker

Reporting to: Team Lead

Salary: SP25 £27,779.2 per annum

Hours: 37 per week

Duration: Fixed-term until March 2027

Base: HMP Styal

Overview

Lancashire Women have delivered resettlement interventions for women in HMP Styal for over two years. We take a holistic approach to our support services within the prison. The role requires an ability to maintain the solid links that we have developed within the prison and external organisations within the community. The post holder will be required to deliver a range of interventions to support women preparing for release from prison and support their reintegration into the community. This is the first stage of their journey with Lancashire Women and is a crucial role in supporting the women we work with. It requires full involvement within the prison, delivering groups and advocating for our women to ensure that we achieve the best possible outcomes for them.

This role will requires the post holder to pass enhanced HMPS prison vetting.

***Exempt under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, and Part 1. Section 7(2) e of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975. This role is open to female candidates only.***

Main Duties

Plan and deliver individual support and resettlement packages for women, ensure successful delivery of plans through LW support/partnerships.
Work directly with probation/prison staff to facilitate resettlement planning.
Manage a caseload of female clients that have multiple and complex needs providing 1-to-1 and group work support within a prison setting.
Support clients using a trauma-informed approach to sustain reintegration and independence in the community and reduce the likelihood of reoffending.
Prepare and maintain appropriate client records using relevant data capture systems (Views, Nomis, Refer and Monitor etc).
Manage safeguarding and risk in a timely manner, recording and reporting concerns.
Lead in ensuring a quality service is delivered for service users in their designated service category, keep up-to-date with developments, provide training to other staff, support difficult cases, and lead on building relationships within the prison.
Participate in organisational activities. For example, team meetings and development days etc.
Establish strong links with other prisons to ensure that women from Lancashire can be supported remotely to prior to release.
Treat all staff, volunteers and service users fairly.
Uphold the policies and ethos of Lancashire Women at all times.

General Duties

Continually seek to advance own professional skills and the business as a whole, identifying opportunities and areas for improvement.
Act as Lancashire Women brand ambassador.
Use CRM systems to ensure efficient analysis and storage of information.
Adhere to and keep up-to-date with GDPR regulations, information security policies and procedures and relevant practitioner codes of conduct.
Ensure that standards of health and safety are maintained.
Work flexibly as and when required to support other team members as needed.
Uphold the policies and ethos of Lancashire Women at all times.
Carry out such other duties as may be required in line with the nature of the post.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications

Driving license and vehicle - Essential
Experience/qualification of working in housing - Desirable

Experience

2 years’ experience working with service users with multiple & complex needs or CJS/mental health/social work related qualification - Desirable
Supporting women with multiple/complex needs on release from custody including duty to refer requirements, liaising with authorities - Desirable
Experience of partnership/multiagency working to meet the needs of clients and the organisation - Essential
Experience in supervising volunteers/mentors - Desirable

Skills & Understanding

Good standard of educational and interpersonal skills - Essential
Experience of client assessment, action planning and risk assessment, and recording/sharing information - Essential
Understanding of/ability to respond to specific needs of women in the criminal justice system, including those with protected characteristics, who’ve experienced domestic abuse or have worked in the sex industry - Essential
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to establish, develop and manage effective relationships - Essential
Knowledge of safeguarding and related processes including indications of risk of serious harm - Essential
Good level of IT competency - Essential
Ability to build relationships with partners and statutory agencies that advocate on behalf of women service users - Essential
Administrative and organisation skills - Essential
Skills in facilitating conversations that emphasise future orientation and self-efficacy - Essential
Expertise to delivery services using a trauma-informed approach and trauma-responsive approach - Desirable
