Workshop Technician – Multi‑Skilled Fabrication & Production

Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 8:00am–5:00pm
£14/hr starting rate (depending on ability) + performance reviews
Weatherweave Ltd manufactures bespoke PVC structures, race awnings, trailer covers and custom fabrication projects. We are a small, skilled workshop where everyone works hard, supports each other, and takes pride in producing high‑quality, made‑to‑order products.
We are looking for a reliable, practical person who enjoys hands-on work, learning new skills, and contributing to a tight-knit team.
About the Role
This is a physical, workshop-based fabrication role. You will work across PVC fabrication, metalwork, woodworking and general workshop tasks.
Daily responsibilities include:
- Measuring, cutting and preparing materials
- PVC welding (hot air and high frequency)
- Operating industrial sewing machines (twin and single needle)
- Metal cutting, drilling, grinding and basic fabrication
- Wood cutting and sanding
- Using hand tools and workshop machinery
- Working at floor level (kneeling, crawling, lifting)
- Keeping the workshop organised and stocked
- Following job sheets and customer specifications

The role involves:
- Being on your feet most of the day
- Kneeling, crawling, lifting and floor-level work
- Getting your hands dirty from materials and tools
- Using tools, machinery and heat-based equipment
- Ending the day physically tired
- Working in a busy, practical workshop environment
If you prefer clean, light or desk-based work, this role will not suit you.
Skills You Will Learn (Full Training Provided)
PVC Fabrication & Welding
- Twin‑needle and single‑needle sewing machines
- Hot‑air welding machines
- High‑frequency welding machines
- Cutting, measuring and material preparation
- Patterning and assembly
Metal Fabrication
- Metal chop saws
- Drills and drilling jigs
- Angle grinders (cutting and sanding)
- Bending machine operation
- Sanding and finishing equipment
- GEKA punching machine
- MIG and TIG welding - training is not guaranteed and is provided based on performance, attitude and long‑term commitment to the role.
Woodworking & General Fabrication
- Wood chop saw
- Hand saws
- Sanding machines
- Basic assembly
Workshop Tools & Measurement
- Tape measures
- Vernier calipers
- Spanners, screwdrivers and general hand tools
- PPE use and safe workshop practice
- You must be willing to learn and use both metric and imperial measurements, including fractions and decimals. Accuracy and conversions are essential.
Production & Planning
- Reading job sheets
- Basic drawings and calculations
- Job preparation and workflow
- Stock control
- Practical problem-solving

Work Ethic & Timekeeping
To maintain a smooth and professional workshop:
- You must be ready to start work at 8:00am.
- Staff are expected to arrive around 7:45am to put bags away, make a drink, use the facilities and prepare for the day.
- Breaks must be taken responsibly and in line with the team’s workflow.
- Work finishes at 5:00pm — pack up afterwards, not before.
- Mobile phones must be stored away during working hours for safety and focus.
- Company uniform (t‑shirts, jumpers and hoodies) is provided and should be worn during working hours.
- A clean, tidy workspace is required at the end of each day.
- Instructions must be followed accurately the first time.
- Accuracy and consistency are essential, we work to exact tolerances, “within a few millimetres” is not acceptable.
- This is a multi‑discipline role, you must be willing to work across all workshop areas, not just metal fabrication.
- Reliability and communication are vital in a small team.
