Full job description

Territory: Surrey, Kent and Sussex. If you win something good outside it, we are not going to tell you to hand it back. Office: Redhill, RH1 — field-based role Salary: £40,000 – £48,000 basic, depending on experience Bonus: Quarterly, paid on the gross margin you generate. Uncapped. Vehicle: Company car and fuel card Contract: Full time, permanent Start: Negotiable — late 2026 or early 2027. We would rather wait for the right person than fill the seat quickly.

About the role

This is a new business role. You will not be inheriting a customer list to look after — you will be given a territory, a branch behind you, and a genuinely open patch.

We are looking for someone who enjoys that. If your best work has been done opening doors that were shut rather than tending a book of accounts, we would like to hear from you.

We are an established independent industrial supplies and MRO distributor based in Redhill, and you will be developing new business across two businesses in the group. Industrial consumables, MRO, fixings, power tools, abrasives, PPE, welding and cutting tools — the full engineering supply offering, into manufacturers, fabricators, precision engineers, aerospace MRO and motorsport across the South East.

Day to day:

Finding and opening engineering and manufacturing accounts across the territory that do not currently buy from us
Getting in front of the people who actually decide — production managers, purchasing managers, works directors
Understanding what a customer genuinely consumes, and building a supply proposition around it rather than quoting line by line
Turning first orders into standing business, then handing the day-to-day running over so you can go and win the next one
Working with our managed services offering where a customer's spend justifies it

You will report to the Group Director.

What success looks like

We would rather be clear about this now than at the end of a second interview.

We are looking for someone generating around £20,000 a month by month three, and building from there. For somebody who knows the sector and has the contacts, that is a realistic first quarter rather than a stretch — and it is the honest measure of whether the territory is moving.

If that feels like the sort of start you have made before, the rest of this will read well.

What you get

£40,000 – £48,000 basic, depending on what you bring
Quarterly bonus on the gross margin you generate, uncapped. Paid on margin rather than turnover deliberately — we would rather you won good business than cheap business, and you should be rewarded for the difference
Company car and fuel card. Straight with you: it will be a good used vehicle to begin with rather than a new one. Once the role has proved itself, that changes
Pension and the usual

Who we are looking for

Essential

A track record of winning genuinely new business in industrial supply, MRO or engineering consumables — rather than growing accounts you inherited
Real product and sector knowledge. You should be comfortable holding a technical conversation on a shop floor without reaching for a brochure
Experience selling into manufacturing and engineering customers in the South East
Self-reliant. You will be planning your own week and running your own diary
A full UK driving licence

Helpful

Background with a national distributor or a strong independent — you will know the type
Understanding of consignment stock, vending and managed inventory models
Experience selling into aerospace, motorsport or precision engineering
