Role Overview and Responsibilities:
Introduction
We are looking for a proactive and driven Production Engineer to support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes within our Power Electronics business.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring products are manufactured safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards. Working closely with Production, Planning, Quality and Engineering teams, you will play a key role in optimising manufacturing performance, supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), driving Lean initiatives and implementing new technologies to improve productivity, quality and cost.

Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing & Production
-
Develop, implement and maintain efficient manufacturing processes and work instructions.
-
Define manufacturing methods, assembly processes and packaging requirements for new and existing products.

Support the safe and effective utilisation of people, equipment and materials to achieve daily, weekly and monthly production plans.

Work closely with the Planning team to optimise production flow using the Theory of Constraints (TOC) methodology.
-
Ensure component availability and manufacturing readiness to meet production schedules.

Introduce new manufacturing processes, equipment and tooling to support business growth and customer requirements.

Design and improve manufacturing layouts and production cells to maximise efficiency and minimise waste.

Support New Product Introduction (NPI) projects by providing manufacturing engineering expertise throughout the product lifecycle.
Continuous Improvement
-
Lead Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives in line with BE LEAN principles.

Drive Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) activities, including cycle time reduction, tooling improvements and process optimisation.

Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce operating costs and enhance product quality.

Monitor manufacturing performance and implement corrective actions where required.

Support the achievement of operational KPIs and departmental objectives.
Training & Technical Support

Ensure manufacturing teams are trained and competent to perform their roles in accordance with documented work instructions.

Identify training needs and support skills development across the production team.

Provide technical guidance and engineering support to manufacturing operations.
Health, Safety & Environmental
-
Ensure all manufacturing processes are appropriately risk assessed and documented.
-
Develop and maintain safe systems of work and operating procedures.

Ensure compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental legislation, company standards and TT roadmaps.

Participate in HS&E committee meetings, audits and workplace inspections.

Promote a positive safety culture and continuous improvement in workplace safety.
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes:
Essential Requirements
-
Experience configuring and optimising manufacturing processes to deliver stable, repeatable and efficient production.
-
Proven track record of implementing Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement projects.

Experience introducing new manufacturing technologies, equipment or processes.
-
Understanding of manufacturing cost control and budget management.
-
HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
Desirable Requirements
-
Experience within military, defence or rail/traction industries.
-
Previous experience in connector or cable harness manufacturing.
-
Knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 workmanship standards.

Familiarity with customer requirements within highly regulated manufacturing environments.

Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) within a low-to-medium volume manufacturing environment.
