Overview

Join our dynamic dairy farm team as a Preapprentice Dairy Farm worker, where you'll gain hands-on experience in animal care, farm maintenance, and equipment operation. This paid position offers a unique opportunity to develop foundational skills in agriculture while supporting the daily operations of a thriving dairy environment. Duties

Assist with daily animal care routines, including feeding, watering, and cleaning stalls to ensure healthy livestock conditions
Support maintenance and repair of farm equipment using hand tools, power tools, and basic mechanical knowledge
Help with irrigation systems setup and troubleshooting to maintain optimal water distribution for crops and pastures
Perform general farm upkeep such as fencing repairs, equipment cleaning, and facility sanitation
Participate in horticultural activities like planting, watering, and caring for crops or forage plants
Aid in heavy lifting tasks involving feed bags, livestock supplies, or equipment parts while adhering to safety protocols
Support team members with routine inspections and minor repairs to ensure smooth farm operations

Qualifications

Basic understanding of mechanical concepts and familiarity with hand tools and power tools
Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting and standing for extended periods
Knowledge of irrigation systems, horticulture practices, or animal care is a plus but not required—training will be provided
Strong attention to detail with good basic math skills for measurements and record keeping
Willingness to learn about equipment repair, maintenance procedures, and farm safety standards
Prior experience with heavy machinery or farm work is advantageous but not mandatory
A positive attitude combined with enthusiasm for working outdoors in various weather conditions
