About the Role

Our client is an established fund committed to supporting businesses in the UK creative industry. The organisation champions, connects, supports and invests in creative people and businesses. Their goal is simple: to cultivate a world where creativity is championed, valued, and nurtured.

This role sits within the Investment Department, where they run a number of investment funds across equity and debt. Our client is looking to add an additional Investment Manager to the team, to operate at the heart of their debt investment programme, providing vital scale-up finance to the UK’s most promising creative businesses.

Theirs is a very non-hierarchical, no-ego environment, where they take strong initiative and ownership over the work they do independently and together. They are looking for someone determined, willing to listen and learn, and not be afraid to take the lead on work and processes. You will benefit from the support of an experienced and hard-working team who help you gear become a valued and contributing member of the team.

Remit of the Investment Manager – SME Debt Fund role

From day one, you will be involved and expected to contribute to all the phases of managing investments, ideally starting to take the lead independently in a short timeframe.

Responsibilities of the Investment Manager – SME Debt Fund role

Origination

Find and champion new investment propositions from own network
Research investment leads via sales and marketing function
Screening target companies
Progressing full due-diligence on investment propositions
Presenting investment proposition to Credit Committee for approval
Deal Execution (negotiation, legal, completion)

Internal matters

Intra-department collaborations
Marketing
Fundraising activities
Operations

Required Skills and Experience of the Investment Manager – SME Debt Fund role:

The ideal candidate will have some form of finance/accounting training, making him/her capable of critically assessing financial accounts, and intimately familiar with financial modelling. A background in investment management would be a plus. A genuine interest in early-stage investing and the creative industries is greatly valued.
