At Sheffield Forgemasters we have an exciting opportunity for a Welder to join our team.
This role is based at our 64-acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield, and will be working as part of our Foundry Team. Our Foundry produces the largest and most technically demanding castings in the World, up to 15 metres long, 8.5 metres in diameter and up to 350 tonnes in weight. We have state of the art in-house inspection facilities and a multi-skilled NDT team, offering all conventional surface and volumetric inspection. We also have coded Welders that also undertake casting repairs, fabrication and cladding services
As a Welder, you will carry out high-quality welding activities to support foundry finishing operations and manufacturing requirements, ensuring all components meet quality, specification, customer, and Health and Safety standards.
What you’ll be doing

Carrying out high-quality welding activities to support foundry finishing operations and wider manufacturing requirements.

Performing welding and weld repairs on castings, forgings, fabricated assemblies and structural components using a range of welding processes.

Ensuring all work is completed in line with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), quality standards and customer requirements.

Prepare components for welding, including grinding, clamping and alignment activities.

Set up and operate welding equipment, gases, consumables and thermal heating equipment safely and effectively.

Weld in a variety of positions and maintain welding qualifications to recognised industry standards

Use cranes, measuring equipment and hand tools safely to support production activities

Support production targets and wider business welding requirements as operational needs dictate
About You
-
Ability to weld to qualification standards using a range of processes, including MIG, MAG, TIG, MMA and SAW.

Experience working in a heavy engineering, manufacturing or foundry environment.

Ability to read and interpret Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), technical drawings and work instructions.

Excellent attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality and compliance.

Good problem-solving skills and the ability to tackle complex repair welds.

The Working Pattern
This is a full-time role working an average of 37 hours per week, on a 3 shift pattern. Mornings 06:00-13:00, Afternoons 13:00-20:00, Nights 19:45-06:00
