Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and diligent Apprentice Bench Joiner to join our skilled woodworking team. This entry-level position offers valuable hands-on experience in bespoke furniture and fixture fabrication, working alongside experienced joiners. The Apprentice Bench Joiner will be involved in various stages of joinery projects, contributing to the creation of high-quality woodwork products.
Duties
- Assisting in the fabrication and assembly of bespoke joinery items, including cabinets, doors, and furniture components
- Operating hand tools, power tools, and specialised machinery safely and efficiently under supervision
- Measuring, marking out, and cutting timber and other materials with precision
- Supporting the team in the installation and finishing of joinery products on-site or within workshop settings
- Maintaining a clean and organised workspace to ensure safety standards are upheld
- Learning to interpret technical drawings and specifications to assist with accurate production
- Participating in quality control checks to ensure finished products meet company standards
Skills
- Basic understanding of fabrication, assembly, and carpentry techniques
- Familiarity with hand tools such as saws, chisels, hammers, and screwdrivers
- Experience or knowledge of power tools used in joinery and woodworking processes
- Awareness of joinery principles including cabinetry, framing, and fitting techniques
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required for handling materials or components
- Knowledge of construction painting, roofing, plumbing, masonry, or electrical work is advantageous but not essential
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to different tasks within the workshop environment
