About Us

The Dormant Distillery Company operate one of Scotlands leading Whisky Specialist retailers and wholesalers, Royal Mile Whiskies. Founded in 1998, the company also run a specialist tobacconist on the Royal Mile, The Cigar Box, and in 2011 opened specialist drinks retail shops in Edinburgh and Pitlochry, Drinkmonger, with the vision to provide the most comprehensive range of quality alcohol products in Scotland.

Along with their online business through www.royalmilewhiskies.com and www.drinkmonger.com, the company have also developed a wholesale business, supplying the on trade across Scotland and beyond.

We are now opening a new Royal Mile Whiskies store in St Andrews. This is our first store to incorporate The Cigar Box within the Royal Mile Whiskies store, bringing together premium spirits, wine, beer and cigars in a single specialist retail environment.

The Role

An opportunity has arisen to join the Royal Mile Whiskies team as a Sales Assistant in our new St. Andrews store.

This role is focused on customer service and supporting the daily running of the shop. You will assist customers, help maintain presentation standards and support the team during busy trading periods.

While specialist knowledge is not required, an interest in drinks retail is important and you should be open to learning about premium products, including cigars, over time.

This role is particularly suited to someone looking for flexible hours, including weekend and peak trading work.

Responsibilities

Customer Service

Welcome and assist customers in a friendly and helpful manner

Help customers find products and make purchase decisions

Process sales through the till accurately

Maintain a positive and welcoming shop environment

Shop Floor Support

Restock shelves and maintain displays

Keep the shop clean, tidy and well presented

Assist with deliveries and stock organisation

Support colleagues during busy trading periods

Product Knowledge

Learn about our range of spirits, wine, beer and cigars

Build confidence recommending products to customers

Support tastings and in store events where required

Compliance

Follow Challenge 25 procedures

Support safe and responsible retailing

Follow company policies and procedures

Job Requirements

Friendly and approachable manner

Good communication skills

Reliable and flexible availability

Interest in drinks retail

Willingness to learn about cigars and premium products

Previous retail or hospitality experience helpful but not essential

This is a Zero-Hours,flexible post with shifts offered based on business needs, including weekends, holidays and peak trading periods. We are offering an hourly rate of £13.45
