Full job description

Job Summary:

Working within a small planning team you will be responsible for a group of suppliers across an agreed set of commodities, with a basic objective of ensuring that the supply of materials meet the minimum stock levels of customer requirements to ensure operational continuity.

This role will report to the Senior Buyer/Planner.

Responsibilities:

Raise Purchase orders in line with the agreed planning tools and buying methodologies as laid out by the Senior Buyer/Planner
Review and analyse inventory levels, using historical demand and customer forecasts to determine appropriate inventory levels
Identify exceptions for shortages, excess stock, late orders etc and put preventative actions in place
Use KPI analysis to drive forecast accuracy, DOH reduction, best in class service levels and reduction in slow moving/ aged stock
Forecasting future requirements to anticipate constraints and co-ordinate these with key stake holders (sales, warehouse)
Manage suppliers to progress orders and products, resolving any issues with supply or delivery.
Day-to-day order management and management of deliveries.
To resolve supplier invoice discrepancies in a timely manner, assisting finance dept. as necessary.
To work with the sourcing team in strengthening the supply base; by escalating supplier risks (commercial, cost, quality, inventory availability or supplier stability); sharing ideas with regards to rationalisation, cost savings and cost avoidance ideas; and supporting with general supplier management challenges.
Escalate and work with the Senior Buyer/Planner in developing and taking actions towards recovery plans for inventory shortages where required.
Maintain strong relationships both internally and externally to ensure lines of communication are efficient and effective maximising the overall performance of the planning team.
To challenge increases and share ideas for cost reduction activities. To escalate significant cost challenges to the sourcing team.
To act in line with the process controls laid out in the Standard Operating Procedures for the department.
To manage incoming inventory – Packaging, booking in slots and warehouse concerns, Supply Technologies collections.

Skills & Attributes:

Ability to communicate at all levels, to build and maintain strong working relationships
Ability to plan and organise workload, to work to tight timescales, managing priorities and pressure.
Proficient in Excel

Education, Experience & Qualifications:

Three years professional experience in materials planning, procurement, demand planning or appropriate experience within Supply Technologies.
Experience with ERP systems and proficient with Microsoft Excel.
Experience in a distribution environment a plus.
Have a thorough knowledge of material planning and inventory management.
Demonstrate attention to detail, be able to prioritize multiple tasks, easily adapt to changing situations, and work well under pressure.
Have strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work in teams with members from various disciplines.
