Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialty Doctor in Upper Gastrointestinal and Bariatric Surgery to join Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will become part of a highly regarded multidisciplinary team, delivering specialist Upper GI and bariatric services within a busy tertiary referral centre while contributing to emergency general surgery, teaching, audit and research activities.

Main duties, tasks & skills required
- Work as a member of the multidisciplinary Upper GI & Bariatric team to provide specialist Upper GI & Bariatric services for outpatients and on the wards. To work flexibly with the 5 Consultants to ensure cover for wards, outpatient clinics and operating lists.
- Play a full part in the provision of surgical services, potentially including scheduled out of hours work and resident/non-resident on-call duties on a rota basis with colleagues.
- Be involved in the development and planning of surgical services within the Trust.
- Undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients.
- Participate in audit examining activity, quality and cost of the surgical service. Participate regularly in medical management and audit meetings.
- Take part in the appraisal processes of the Hospital and its clinical governance activities
