TUTOR JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title

Employment & Progression Coach – Youth Employability Programme (Freelance)

(Freelance 6 Week Contract, 2 Days per week)

Employment Status

This role is initially offered on a freelance / associate basis to support delivery of the Poole employability provision. The position may develop into a permanent full-time position (FTE) subject to programme performance, future contract awards and organisational growth. Forward Step Training is also open to discussions regarding a fixed-term contract arrangement where this is mutually beneficial for both parties and aligned to programme delivery requirements. Freelance delivery staff will be expected to work in line with programme delivery requirements and Forward Step Training policies and procedures.

Job Summary (Purpose)

Working in both a classroom environment and some online remote delivery (if required), you will be expected to facilitate the effective and efficient learning and assessment of learners undergoing our youth provision.

i. To train & teach FST courses and workshops as agreed with your Line Manager.

ii. To be responsible for improvement Quality Assurance actions of your teaching and delivery, as identified in OTLA observations and 1-2-1 discussion.

Key responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities

The post holder will be expected to confidently manage group dynamics and maintain a structured learning environment when working with participants who may present complex barriers to employment. They will also be required to:

· Deliver a structured employability programme supporting individuals with conviction histories to progress towards employment, aligned to the programme stages.

· Plan and deliver engaging face-to-face group workshops

· Facilitate the programme curriculum which includes delivery of the following themes:

· Conduct comprehensive initial assessments and diagnostic discussions to understand participants’ personal circumstances, employment history and barriers to work and assess participant confidence, motivation and job readiness levels.

· Develop an individual action plan for each participant, outlining realistic progression steps towards employment.

· Deliver workshops designed to rebuild confidence, self-esteem and motivation.

· Support participants to establish routine, accountability and professional behaviour expectations aligned with the workplace.

· Deliver structured employability training

· Support participants in preparing disclosure statements, enabling them to discuss convictions constructively with employers.

· Support participants to identify their transferable skills and realistic employment options

· Support participants to apply for real employment opportunities and prepare for interviews.

· Support participants to move into employment, training, volunteering or further support services.

· Produce a final exit action plan summarising the participant’s progress and agreed next steps.

Essential Requirements

Experience supporting individuals facing barriers to employment such as offending histories, long-term unemployment, low confidence, or complex personal circumstances including barriers faced by youths.

A recognised teaching, training or coaching qualification such as:

Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) / PTLLS

equivalent experience delivering adult training or employability support.

Ability to work and communicate at the highest level, to think strategically and to meet KPIs

A very good knowledge of IT based systems.

Experience of coaching/mentoring people with mixed abilities

Experience of teaching/training or working with groups of adults in appropriate field.

An understanding of the principles underpinning teaching adults, i.e., planning, delivery, assessment, and evaluation of learning.

An awareness of different learning strategies and teaching methods suitable for teaching a diverse range of abilities.

Effective oral and written communication, numeracy, and interpersonal qualifications & skills to communicate effectively with staff and learners alike (to at least Level 2 and/or willingness to acquire appropriate equivalent qualification).

A commitment and ability to comply with safeguarding, Equality & Diversity, Health & Safety policies, etc.

Maintaining a positive attitude that inspires co-workers and clients to grow the business

Adheres to the organisation’s code of conduct and contributes to team cohesion and productivity – representing the positive aspects of team culture and respectfully challenging inappropriate prevailing cultures.

Desirable Requirements

Preferably hold a L3 Information, Advice and Guidance qualification

Full UK clean driving licence and use of own vehicle

This is a description of the job, as it is constituted at the date shown. It is the practice of FST (Ltd) periodically to examine job descriptions, update them and ensure that they relate to the job performed, or to incorporate any proposed changes. This procedure will be conducted by the appropriate Manager in consultation with the post holder.
