Full job description

Overview
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Youth Activities Volunteers to support our programmes aimed at engaging young people in a variety of educational and recreational activities. This paid volunteer role offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills in youth work, mentoring, and teaching within a supportive environment. Volunteers will play a vital role in fostering positive experiences for children and teenagers, promoting their personal growth and community involvement.

Duties

Assist in planning and delivering engaging activities tailored to different age groups
Support programme organisers in setting up activity spaces and ensuring safety protocols are followed
Act as a positive role model, demonstrating respectful behaviour and encouraging participation
Mentor young participants, providing guidance and support during activities
Facilitate group discussions and encourage teamwork among children and teenagers
Maintain a welcoming environment that promotes inclusivity and enjoyment
Support with organising materials, resources, and equipment needed for activities
Monitor behaviour to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all participants

Skills

Experience or interest in teaching, youth work, or mentoring roles
Ability to work effectively with children and young people of diverse backgrounds
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and motivate young participants
Patience, empathy, and the ability to provide support in a caring manner
Knowledge of special education needs is advantageous but not essential
Organised with good time management skills to assist with programme delivery
Enthusiastic team player committed to fostering positive youth development

This role provides valuable experience in youth engagement and community service while contributing positively to the development of young people.

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 1 month

Pay: £12.21-£31.46 per hour
