About Bryght
Bryght is an event equipment hire and production company providing LED screens, AV equipment, staging, furniture and immersive experiences for exhibitions, conferences, brand activations and live events across the UK.
We operate in a fast-moving industry where plans can change quickly, last-minute orders are common and delivering the right equipment to the right place at the right time is critical.
We are looking for a practical, highly organised Transport & Operations Manager to take control of our daily logistics, transport planning and operational coordination.
The role
This is a hands-on management position suited to someone who enjoys solving problems, organising people and keeping a busy operation moving.
You will coordinate our vehicles, drivers, technicians, warehouse teams and event schedules, ensuring every job is properly planned, resourced and delivered efficiently.
You will need to balance customer requirements with staffing, vehicle availability, working hours and commercial reality. This is not purely a desk-based role: you will be expected to remain close to the operation, support the team and step in when needed.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate daily deliveries, collections, installations and derigs.
- Allocate suitable vehicles, drivers and crew to each job.
- Create efficient transport routes and minimise unnecessary mileage, vehicle use and labour costs.
- Review upcoming jobs and identify staffing, vehicle, equipment or timing issues in advance.
- Produce clear daily and weekly operational schedules.
- Coordinate closely with the sales, warehouse and technical teams.
- Ensure crews receive accurate job information, timings, access details and customer requirements.
- Manage last-minute changes, urgent bookings, delays and operational problems calmly.
- Monitor drivers’ hours, working time and team workloads.
- Oversee vehicle checks, servicing, repairs, cleanliness and general fleet readiness.
- Maintain accurate records relating to vehicles, drivers, incidents and compliance.
- Arrange hired vehicles and external transport when required.
- Ensure loads are planned safely and vehicles are not overloaded.
- Help improve loading, checking, dispatch and return processes.
- Support the warehouse team in ensuring orders are prepared correctly and on time.
- Monitor operational costs, including vehicle hire, fuel, labour, accommodation and subcontract transport.
- Investigate mistakes, delays, damages and failed deliveries, then introduce practical improvements.
- Help develop more efficient systems and processes as the company grows.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety across transport and operational activities.
- Lead the operational team with clear expectations, accountability and a positive attitude.
About you
We are looking for someone who is:
- Highly organised and able to manage several jobs at once.
- Confident making decisions in a busy, time-sensitive environment.
- Commercially aware and understands that operational decisions affect job profitability.
- Calm and solutions-focused when plans change.
- Comfortable managing drivers, technicians and warehouse staff.
- Clear and confident when communicating with employees, suppliers and customers.
- Willing to be hands-on and support the operation when required.
- Able to challenge inefficient practices and hold people accountable.
- Comfortable using scheduling, fleet management or hire management software.
- Reliable, flexible and able to take ownership of the operation.
Experience required
- Previous experience in transport planning, logistics, fleet coordination or operations management.
- Experience managing vehicles, drivers and operational schedules.
- Experience leading or supervising an operational team.
- Good understanding of vehicle safety, load planning and transport compliance.
- Strong IT and administrative skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable experience
- Experience within events, AV hire, equipment hire, exhibitions, live production or a similarly reactive industry.
- Experience coordinating deliveries and collections at major UK event venues.
- Knowledge of drivers’ hours, working time rules and operator compliance.
- Transport Manager CPC qualification.
- Experience using Current RMS or similar hire-management software.
- Experience managing hired vehicles and subcontract transport providers.
Events experience would be a strong advantage, but we will also consider candidates from equipment hire, construction logistics, removals, distribution or other fast-paced transport operations.
Working pattern
This is a full-time position based at our Telford operation.
Our work takes place across the UK and includes early starts, late finishes and weekend activity. The Transport & Operations Manager will need to provide flexibility around particularly busy periods and important projects. However, the role is primarily focused on planning and managing the operation rather than routinely attending every event.
Salary
£30,000- £35,000 per year dependant on experience
Why join Bryght?
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a busy and varied operation within the events industry. You will have the freedom to improve processes, reduce unnecessary costs and build a more organised, reliable and efficient transport operation.
The role would suit someone who enjoys responsibility, variety and seeing the direct results of their decisions.
