Established in 2006, we are a family-run machining and fabrication business which has seen exponential growth over our years of operation. The company is going through another stage of growth and are looking to add an experienced Quality Inspector to the team.
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and practical Quality Inspector to join our manufacturing team. You will own product and process quality across fabrication production, ensure we meet all standards and customer requirements, and drive continuous improvement to prevent defects and reduce waste. You will work closely with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues at every stage from incoming materials to finished goods.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality control procedures, inspection standards, and work instructions aligned with ISO 9001 and other relevant industry standards.
- Plan and carry out quality audits of production processes, finished products, and incoming raw materials/components.
- Ensure full compliance with company specifications, customer requirements, and legal/regulatory standards.
- Approve or reject materials, components, and finished goods based on defined quality criteria; manage non-conforming stock and quarantine processes.
Problem Solving & Corrective Action
- Investigate all internal and external quality issues, customer complaints, and product failures — identify root causes using tools such as 8D, NCR’S and CAPA’s
- Lead and track corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to resolve issues and prevent recurrence; verify effectiveness of improvements.
- Liaise with suppliers to resolve incoming quality defects, drive improvements, and ensure consistent quality from external sources.
Process Improvement & Quality Systems
- Monitor and analyse quality data (defect rates, inspection results, customer returns, etc.) and produce regular performance reports.
- Work with production and engineering teams to improve processes, and improve first-time quality.
- Maintain and update the quality management system; support internal and external audits including ISO 9001 certification audits.
- Train and support production staff on quality standards, inspection methods, and best practice.
Inspection & Testing
- Define inspection and testing plans — incoming, in-process, and final inspection — and set appropriate sampling methods and criteria.
- Calibrate and maintain inspection, measuring, and test equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Review and approve quality records, inspection reports, and batch release documentation.
Person Specification
Essential
- Proven experience working in a quality role within a manufacturing environment, specifically in fabrication, laser cutting and tube manipulation.
- Practical knowledge of quality management systems, particularly ISO 9001.
- Experience using root-cause analysis and problem-solving tools.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection criteria.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills; confident using spreadsheets and data reporting.
- Excellent communication skills — able to explain quality standards clearly and influence change across all levels of the business.
- Highly organised, methodical, and able to prioritise work under pressure.
Desirable
- Professional qualification such as CQI, IRCA, or ASQ certification.
- Experience with Faro arms and CMM’s.
- Experience auditing processes or supplier quality.
