Under-2s Room Leader / Baby Room Manager

£32,000–£34,000 | Full Time | 40 Hours Across 4.5 or 5 Days | Reading RG30

Pine Rivers Kindergarten is looking for an experienced and passionate Early Years professional to take the lead across our Under-2s provision.

Our youngest children are cared for in two small, dedicated rooms – one for up to 9 babies and one for up to 7 toddlers – allowing us to provide the calm, nurturing and individualised care that this stage deserves.

You'll be supported by two Deputy Room Leaders and an experienced team of practitioners, giving you the opportunity to focus on leading excellent practice, developing your team and creating an exceptional experience for children and their families.

You may already be a Baby Room Leader or Room Manager looking for your next move. Or you might be an experienced Deputy, Senior Practitioner or Level 3 Early Years Educator who's ready to take the next step into leadership.

The role

As our Under-2s Room Leader, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day leadership of our baby and toddler provision.

You'll:

Lead our two Under-2s rooms and support your team to deliver consistently excellent care
Create warm, nurturing and stimulating environments where babies and toddlers feel safe, secure and confident
Mentor, coach and develop practitioners, including your two Deputy Room Leaders
Support high-quality interactions and age-appropriate practice across the provision
Build strong, trusting relationships with parents and families
Oversee planning, observations and children's development in line with the EYFS
Ensure high standards of safeguarding, health & safety and regulatory compliance
Work closely with our nursery management team
Take ownership of standards within your provision and help identify opportunities to make it even better

What we're looking for

Essential

A full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification or recognised equivalent
Strong hands-on experience working with babies and children under two in a nursery setting
A good working knowledge of the EYFS and safeguarding
Confidence supporting, guiding and developing other practitioners
Strong organisation and communication skills
A warm, calm and child-centred approach
The confidence and ambition to take ownership of our Under-2s provision
Enhanced DBS, or willingness to obtain one

Desirable

Previous experience as a Room Leader, Deputy Room Leader or Senior Practitioner
Paediatric First Aid qualification
Experience using Famly or a similar nursery management system

You don't need to already be a Room Leader

We know that some of the best future leaders are already doing much of the job without having the title yet.

If you're an experienced Under-2s practitioner or Deputy who loves working with babies and toddlers, naturally supports the people around you and feels ready for more responsibility, we'd particularly encourage you to apply.

You'll have experienced Deputy Room Leaders around you and support from our nursery leadership team as you develop into the role.
