Job Introduction

Are you an experienced Construction Materials Field Technician looking for your next challenge? Do you take pride in delivering accurate results, working outdoors, and being part of a collaborative team? We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic Field Technicians to join our expanding Construction Materials Testing Division in Barnsley.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with proven experience in construction materials testing who are looking to develop their careers within a supportive and forward‑thinking organisation. If you don’t yet have the desired experience but have an interest in becoming a Field Technician, consideration will be given to the right candidate and full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct on-site sampling and testing of construction materials, including soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt
Prepare and maintain vehicles, tools, and testing equipment before and after site visits
Accurately complete test sheets and input data using tablets or digital systems
Liaise with senior staff regarding work schedules, sample requirements, and testing procedures
Follow all quality control and health & safety procedures on site
Contribute to continuous improvement and uphold company standards at all times

Person Specification

Proven field-based experience in construction materials testing
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Self-motivated, proactive, and well organised
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Full, clean UK driving licence
Ability to manually handle samples (up to 20kg)

Desirable

Experience in a UKAS-accredited testing environment
Knowledge of relevant testing standards and procedures
CSCS card
