Full job description

Tasker House are looking for experienced care assistants to join our team

To provide compassionate, person-centred care and support to residents living with dementia, promoting their dignity, independence, wellbeing and quality of life. The Care Assistant will work as part of the care team to ensure residents receive safe, respectful and consistent care in accordance with their individual care plans.

Key Responsibilities

Provide personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting, continence care and oral hygiene.
Support residents with eating and drinking and monitor nutritional and fluid intake where required.
Assist residents with mobility and transfers, following moving and handling procedures.
Encourage residents to maintain their independence and participate in daily activities.
Provide reassurance and emotional support to residents experiencing confusion, anxiety or distress.
Communicate with residents in a calm, patient and respectful manner.
Follow individual care plans and report any changes in a resident’s physical or emotional wellbeing.
Observe and report changes in behaviour, appetite, mobility, sleep or general health.
Support residents with dementia-related behaviours using appropriate, person-centred approaches.
Maintain residents’ dignity, privacy, choice and confidentiality at all times.
Assist with activities that promote social interaction, stimulation and wellbeing.
Work closely with nurses, senior carers, healthcare professionals and residents’ families.
Maintain accurate and timely care records and documentation.
Follow safeguarding, infection prevention and control, health and safety and medication policies as required by the role.
Report accidents, incidents, safeguarding concerns and health changes promptly.
Maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for residents.
Attend training and participate in supervision and staff development.
Comply with all care home policies, procedures and relevant legislation.

Ability to recognise and report concerns appropriately.

Qualifications and Experience

Previous experience in health or social care is desirable.
Experience working with people living with dementia is desirable.
Relevant care qualifications, such as an NVQ/QCF in Health and Social Care, are advantageous.
Willingness to complete mandatory training and develop professionally.
Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and person-centred care.

Working Relationships

The Care Assistant will work closely with:

Residents and their families.
Senior Care Assistants and Care Managers.
Nurses and other healthcare professionals.
Activity and wellbeing staff.
Other members of the care home team.

Expected Standard of Care

Every resident should be treated as an individual and receive care that is safe, compassionate, respectful and person-centred. Staff are expected to promote dignity, independence and choice while ensuring residents are protected from harm and receive appropriate support for their physical, emotional and social needs.
