About Vue Building and Developments

Vue Building and Developments is a growing construction company delivering residential, commercial, and development projects across Newcastle. We pride ourselves on quality workmanship, safe working practices, and a strong, reliable team. Due to an increasing workload, we are now looking for self-employed labourers to support our site teams.

Role Overview

We are seeking reliable, hard-working Construction Labourers to join us on a self-employed basis. You will support skilled tradespeople and site management across a range of practical and manual tasks on site. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced labourer looking for steady work with an established local contractor.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and clean construction sites, including removing debris, waste, and hazardous materials
Load, unload, and distribute construction materials and equipment
Dig trenches, backfill excavations, and compact earth using hand tools and powered equipment
Assist tradespeople (bricklayers, carpenters, electricians, plumbers) as required
Operate hand and power tools, mixers, and small plant under supervision
Erect and dismantle scaffolding, fencing, hoarding, and signage
Direct traffic and pedestrians safely around work zones when needed
Carry out basic maintenance of tools and equipment
Follow all health and safety procedures, including correct use of PPE
Report hazards, defects, or incidents to the site supervisor promptly

Requirements

Registered with HMRC under the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS)
Previous experience on construction sites preferred
Good level of physical fitness — able to lift, carry, and perform manual labour throughout the shift
Reliable, punctual, and able to work well in a team
Basic understanding of health and safety on construction sites
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
Right to work in the UK
Own hand tools and transport

Desirable

Plant or tool tickets (e.g. telehandler, dumper, abrasive wheels, traffic marshal)
CSCS card
First aid certification
Asbestos awareness training
Full UK driving licence
