Full job description

About the role:

We have a vacancy for Street Cleansing Operative at our operational depot in Bury St Edmunds.

Your main duties will include:

Street cleansing
Dog and litter bin emptying
Clearance of fly tipping
Supporting markets
General maintenance of the public amenities across the West Suffolk area

The role is based on 37 hours each week, on a four-day basis (Wednesday to Saturday). The hours for this role are as below (excluding breaks):

Wednesday: 11 hours
Thursday: 7.5 hours
Friday: 7.5 hours
Saturday: 11 hours

What you will need:

You will need to be physically fit as this role requires a great deal of walking and physical mobility, lifting and stretching.
You will need to be prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
You will be able to demonstrate a positive approach to health and safety.
You will be flexible with a strong customer focus and be able to demonstrate a desire to deliver high standards of service.
You will be computer literate and be able to operate ‘in cab’ and ‘handheld’ technology and other in-house systems as appropriate.
You will hold a minimum Class B (car) driving licence and have your own transport.
Experience of driving 3.5t vehicles and either 7.5t driving or trailer towing licence categories and DCPC card would be an advantage.
