Commis Chef

Location: Walton-on-Thames
Salary: Negotiable

Job Summary

We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic, and hardworking Assistant Chef / Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly kitchen team. The successful candidate will support the Head Chef in preparing and cooking high-quality food while helping to maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about cooking and wants to develop their skills in a busy pub kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Head Chef with daily food preparation and cooking.
Prepare ingredients and ensure food is presented to a high standard.
Support the smooth running of the kitchen during busy service periods.
Maintain high standards of food hygiene and food safety.
Help with stock rotation, storage, and inventory control.
Wash, clean, and organise kitchen equipment and workstations.
Ensure the kitchen remains clean, safe, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
Work as part of a team to deliver excellent food and service.
Assist with receiving and storing deliveries.
Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Head Chef.

Requirements

Previous experience in a professional kitchen is preferred but not essential.
Passion for cooking and willingness to learn.
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Knowledge of food hygiene and food safety practices is an advantage.
Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
A positive attitude with a strong work ethic.
