Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Cook/Kitchen Assistant to join our team at a caring nursing home facility. In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious and appealing meals that meet the dietary needs of our residents, ensuring food safety standards are upheld at all times. Your enthusiasm and culinary skills will contribute to creating a warm, welcoming environment where residents feel valued and well cared for. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents through quality meal service and kitchen support.

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook meals according to dietary guidelines, recipes, and resident preferences, ensuring consistency and quality.
Assist with food preparation tasks such as chopping, portioning, and assembling ingredients for various dishes.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste properly.
Follow food safety protocols diligently to prevent contamination and ensure compliance with health regulations.
Support serving meals to residents in a friendly and respectful manner, ensuring timely delivery.
Monitor inventory levels of kitchen supplies and ingredients, notifying management when stock needs replenishing.
Assist in receiving deliveries, storing food items appropriately, and rotating stock to minimize waste.

Qualifications

Prior experience in food preparation or cooking within a restaurant or healthcare setting is preferred.
Knowledge of food safety standards and proper handling procedures is essential.
Experience working in a kitchen environment with culinary responsibilities is highly desirable.
Ability to follow recipes accurately while maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail to ensure meal quality and safety.
Excellent communication skills to work collaboratively with team members and support residents’ needs.
A positive attitude, reliability, and enthusiasm for providing nourishing meals that enhance residents’ well-being.
