We are seeking a friendly and dedicated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Tern Vets in Newport on a full-time basis. Part-time applications will also be considered.

Tern Vets is based on the outskirts of Newport, a beautiful town in Shropshire with great amenities and glorious surrounding countryside. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly, supportive team that is passionate about putting patients first and delivering high standards of client care.

Our team includes 5 Veterinary Surgeons, 5 Registered Veterinary Nurses and a dedicated support team who work together to ensure the day runs smoothly. The practice is well-equipped with ultrasound, x-ray including dental x-ray, endoscopy, two theatres, four consult rooms and an in-house laboratory.

Team of 5 Veterinary Surgeons, 5 Registered Veterinary Nurses and dedicated support colleagues

Two theatres and four consult rooms

Varied role across surgery, inpatient care, clinics and consults

Schedule 3 procedures are encouraged

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high-quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences.

You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, taking responsibility for the nursing care of a range of first opinion cases, contributing to clinical standards, and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice.

Working Pattern

Up to 40 hours per week

4-day working week, 8:30am to 6:30pm - 1 in 4 Saturdays 8:30am-12:30pm

Flexibility can be considered for shorter shifts over 5 days

Full-time or part-time applications considered

General Responsibilities

Deliver high standards of nursing care across a varied first opinion caseload

Support surgical procedures, including anaesthesia monitoring and theatre nursing

Provide excellent inpatient care and support patient recovery

Run nurse clinics and consults, contributing to preventative healthcare and client education

We’re looking for a confident and motivated Registered Veterinary Nurse who enjoys working as part of a team and delivering high standards of care. You’ll bring:

Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS - Ideally, you’ll have 2 years’ experience in clinical practice

Experience working in clinical practice, with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing

Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues

Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively

A proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement
