kitchen porter/Kitchen Assistant - Daytime Shifts Only

Location: Clapham Junction

Pay: £13.00 per hour + tronc

Job Type: Full-time (30–45 hours per week)

Schedule:

Day shifts only
5 days per week
No evening or late-night work

About the Role

We're looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Commis Chef/Kitchen Assistant to join our brunch café team. This is a full-time position in a busy, fast-paced kitchen, where you'll support the chefs with food preparation, maintain high kitchen standards, and help deliver consistently excellent food.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with some kitchen experience who enjoys working as part of a team and is looking to develop their skills in a welcoming, friendly working environment with consistent daytime hours.

Responsibilities

Assisting with the preparation of fresh ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping and portioning, as well as plating final dishes
Supporting the chefs during service to ensure food is prepared efficiently and to a high standard
Preparing simple dishes and components as directed by the senior chefs
Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic workstation throughout the day
Ensuring food is stored, labelled and rotated correctly in line with food safety procedures
Assisting with deliveries, stock organisation and general kitchen duties
Following food hygiene, HACCP and health & safety procedures at all times
Working closely with the wider kitchen team to help ensure smooth day-to-day operations

What We're Looking For

Some previous experience working in a professional kitchen
A genuine interest in food and a willingness to learn and develop
Reliable, punctual and hardworking
Able to work efficiently in a busy, fast-paced environment
A team player with a positive attitude
Good attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards

What We Offer

£13.00–£13.50 per hour + tronc
Full-time hours (40–45 hours per week)
Daytime shifts only – no evenings or late nights
5-day working week
