Make a Difference That Lasts a Lifetime
At Edison Young People, we’re dedicated to creating memories and experiences that truly last. Our homes are places where children feel loved, cared for, safe, and supported — and where staff are valued, developed, and encouraged to grow.
We’re a family-run organisation that believes in nurturing our team just as much as the children we care for. If you’ve got a big heart, patience, and a desire to help young people who’ve had a difficult start, this could be the perfect role for you.
About the Role
As a Residential Support Worker, no two days are ever the same. You’ll act as a therapeutic parent, offering stability, understanding, and emotional support to looked-after children.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting young people with daily routines — school runs, meals, homework, activities
- Using a trauma‑informed approach to help children feel safe, understood, and valued
- Helping young people manage emotions and behaviours in a positive, respectful way
- Working closely with your team to provide consistent, high‑quality care
- Keeping the home safe, tidy, and welcoming
- Writing reports and logs to maintain safe and effective practice
Some days will be challenging, but every day will be rewarding.
About You
We’re looking for people who can be a calm, steady, and consistent presence in the lives of young people. You’ll bring resilience, compassion, and a genuine desire to help children thrive.
Requirements:
- No formal experience required — an understanding of the sector is desirable
- Willingness to complete full, funded training and qualifications
- Full UK driving licence
- Willing to work approx. 11 day shifts (8am–11pm) per month, plus 7–10 sleep-ins
What You’ll Get in Return
- £12.60–£13.97 per hour + £50 per sleep-in
- Refer-a-friend bonus — earn up to £500
- Fully funded Blue Light Card — discounts across shops, restaurants & more
- Healthcare cashback scheme — dental, optical & physio covered
- Free meals on shift — staff and young people eat together, just like a family
- Fully funded qualifications & training — grow your career with us
- Employee Assistance Programme — financial, mental health & wellbeing support
- Full induction and ongoing support from an experienced, passionate team
