Role Overview:
The Paralegal will report to the Legal Operations and Projects Lead and provide administrative and junior level legal support across the EMEA legal team, under supervision of a qualified member of the EMEA Legal Team. This opportunity is available on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract.
Role Responsibilities:
Assist on commercial, corporate, real estate, intellectual property, regulatory, data protection and employment legal matters including research, briefing memos, document review and drafting, under the supervision of a more senior lawyer
Provision of support to lawyers on contentious matters and regulatory investigations with respect to discovery and related matters
Assist on the assessment of and response to DSARs (Data Subject Access Requests) and legal hold processes
Draft, review and negotiate front office employment contracts and administer the employment contract process: requests/approvals/execution, draft form agreements or amendments, incorporate lawyer’s revisions, track outstanding contracts, summarise executed contracts, log, run reports and maintain related files.
Assist with the management of legal documentation of the EMEA Legal team including migration of data management systems, maintaining templates and precedent banks and assisting with applying metadata standards
Assist, where required, with the legal billing process, accruals and reporting of MI including the maintenance of reporting data
Support legal operations projects and process improvement initiatives, including the maintenance and development of workflows, intake processes and legal technology and AI tools
Maintain legal files including periodic archiving and retrieval of archived files; maintain a files list.
Other duties, as required to assist the EMEA Legal team.
Key Skills & Experience
Essential
Completion of an undergraduate degree in law (or an undergraduate degree in another subject and have completed the postgraduate diploma in law (GDL).
Knowledge of the legal framework within England and Wales (or other relevant jurisdiction), ideally to include legal matters within the financial services sector.
Excellent organisational skills, ability to interface easily with members of the legal team, internal stakeholders both in the front office and support teams at all levels as well as external legal advisers.
Technically competent and confident using IT systems and standard office software; willing to learn and adopt new tools and technologies as part of the role.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Motivated self- starter, pro-active and able to multi-task in fast moving environment.
Excellent attention to detail with a curiosity to learn
Must work well in a small team environment.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately and escalate issues where required.
Desired
Familiarity with contract lifecycle processes, including preparing agreements from templates, tracking approvals, execution and maintaining contract records.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 tools, including Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams and Outlook; experience with legal technology, workflow tools or AI tools would be beneficial.
