School Transport Manager – Overview
The School Transport Manager is responsible for overseeing the safe and compliant operation of school transport services. This role involves monitoring transport arrangements, ensuring vehicles and drivers meet safety requirements, and supporting effective communication between the school, drivers, and parents. This position requires a valid CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) qualification and involves approximately 5-10 hours per week.
Key Duties
- Monitor school transport operations and route arrangements
- Ensure compliance with safety and safeguarding regulations
- Check vehicle maintenance records and driver documentation
- Maintain basic transport records using simple IT systems
- Communicate with drivers and school staff regarding schedules or issues
- Report and assist with resolving any transport-related concerns
Key Skills and Requirements
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Basic IT and computer skills
- Understanding of safety and responsibility for student transport
- Ability to work independently for a small number of hours per week
