Our client in the Midlands is recruiting for a reliable and motivated Planned Preventative Maintenance Engineer to join their growing service team. They have an excellent reputation within the waste management and recycling equipment sector and are offering a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop their engineering career within a well-established business.
This field-based role will focus on carrying out routine planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and servicing of specialist waste compactors and balers for key customers across England and Wales. The work can be repetitive at times, making it ideal for someone who takes pride in delivering consistent, high-quality maintenance standards and excellent customer service.
Candidates should ideally be based in the
Derbyshire, Nottingham or Leicestershire areas, with easy access to the M1 corridor to support efficient travel across the UK.
As the new Planned Preventative Maintenance Engineer, you will:
Planned Preventative Maintenance:
- Carry out routine planned preventative maintenance and servicing on waste compactors and vertical balers to ensure equipment remains safe, operational, and compliant.
- Perform inspections, testing, cleaning, lubrication, greasing, and minor repairs on electrically powered and hydraulically driven machinery.
- Complete scheduled maintenance visits across multiple customer locations throughout England and Wales.
- Identify potential faults and report recommendations for repairs or further maintenance requirements.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained to the highest standards of safety and functionality.
Customer Service:
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers during site visits.
- Provide customers with clear reports and feedback following maintenance visits.
- Offer practical advice and recommendations regarding equipment condition and future servicing requirements.
- Act as a professional representative of the business while working independently on customer sites.
- Deliver excellent customer service and maintain a positive, solutions-focused approach.
Requirements for this role:
- Previous engineering or maintenance experience is essential.
- Experience working with mechanical, hydraulic, or electrically powered equipment.
- Practical experience carrying out servicing, maintenance, repairs, cleaning, lubrication, or replacement of machinery components.
- Comfortable working in a physically demanding role involving manual handling and site-based activities.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Able to work independently for extended periods while also contributing effectively within a team environment when required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.
- Happy to undertake field-based work across England and Wales.
- Willingness to stay away from home when required, typically between 2-3 days and up to 1-2 weeks on occasion, with weekends generally spent at home.
- Flexible regarding overtime and additional working hours when required.
- Full UK driving licence is essential.

- Base Salary of £32,240 per annum (based on 40 hours per week)
- £15.50 per hour
