We are recruiting Teaching Assistants to work across a range of mainstream primary and specialist SEN schools in Southend-on-Sea and surrounding areas. This is a varied and rewarding opportunity for individuals who enjoy supporting children with different learning needs, from mainstream classroom support to more specialist SEN-focused roles.
Class sizes and settings will vary, but all schools offer supportive teams and a welcoming environment for Teaching Assistants looking to build long-term careers in education.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support teachers and pupils throughout the school day, helping children access learning and thrive in the classroom.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support in primary and SEN classrooms
- Supporting pupils with learning, engagement and classroom routines
- Assisting with differentiated activities and adapting resources
- Supporting pupils with additional needs, including SEN where required
- Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Helping create a safe, inclusive and structured learning environment
- Building positive relationships with pupils and staff

What We’re Looking For
- Experience in education, childcare, care, support work, youth work or similar
- A positive attitude and genuine interest in supporting children’s learning
- Confidence working with children in primary and/or SEN settings
- Lived or informal experience with SEN is welcomed
- A patient, adaptable and reliable approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Full-time availability (8:30am–3:30pm, Monday–Friday)
- Full right to work in the UK (essential – no sponsorship available)
Previous school experience is beneficial but not essential — transferable skills and a willingness to learn are highly valued.
