You’ll be part of a close-knit team of three payroll professionals who take pride in working efficiently, accurately and collaboratively. The environment is fast-paced, but teamwork and mutual support are central to how the team operates.
We’re keen to hear from experienced payroll professionals who understand best practice. Ideally, your background will include:
- Around three years’ experience (or more) delivering full-cycle payroll
- Exposure to high-volume payrolls, typically processing around 1,500 payslips
- A solid understanding of statutory payroll requirements, including PAYE, National Insurance, pensions and auto-enrolment
- Strong Excel capability, with experience reconciling data and working with CSV file imports
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Provide day-to-day oversight and support to team members, offering guidance, coaching and training where required
- Payroll & Data Processing: Manage large volumes of payroll data, ensuring accurate data entry, timesheet calculations and validation
- Excel & Reporting: Use Excel to manage, analyse and report on payroll data, supporting accurate processing and tracking
- Communication: Liaise regularly with workers via phone to resolve payroll and timesheet queries
- Customer Service: Deliver a high standard of service to both internal and external stakeholders
- Systems Management: Work across multiple payroll and HR systems to input, track and verify information, maintaining data accuracy
- Prioritisation: Manage competing deadlines effectively, often working under pressure
- Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough checks on payroll data and outputs to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal standards
Key Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, VLOOKUPs and pivot tables
- Experience working in a fast-paced administrative environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Proven ability to work under pressure and manage high volumes of data efficiently
- Previous experience in a supervisory or team leadership role
- Experience using payroll systems / software
