Our well-renowned, fully insured North Herts-based dog exercise business The Dog Pack is now expanding our staff team. We offer a flexible service to our client base and reflect this with our staff team as well. Many of our current team have other jobs, undertake voluntary work and have other responsibilities, and staff are encouraged to select shifts according to their availability. So, our positions of Dog Walker and Van Driver would suit similar people. We are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible as our business continues to expand and becomes busier.
We serve Hitchin and all surrounding areas. We walk on weekdays and some Saturdays and our PackWalks (currently three per day) usually last 1.5-2 hours. We are looking for PackLeaders (around 5 hours per PackWalk including collecting and dropping off PackDogs) and PackAssistants (around 1.5 hour per PackWalk). All new staff will begin by assisting on walks before being given the appropriate training to confidently lead a PackWalk.
You must have experience working with animals in a professional capacity and you must be comfortable driving a large van.
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
- A clean, full driving license
- A confident driver who is comfortable driving a Transit or equivalent sized van
- Experience caring for and walking groups of dogs and confident handling all sizes and breeds of dog
- Trustworthy and responsible due to having access to client's homes and tasked with caring for their beloved pets
- High level of initiative
- Good attention to detail to plan and schedule optimum routes to collect and drop-off dogs
- High level of concentration to care for our PackDogs on a PackWalk and anticipate potential dangers to minimise risk to the animals
- A current self-employed status or happy to be self-employed
- A current DBS certificate
- Two references that can be provided on request
