We are working with a well‑established specialist SEN school in Hertfordshire (SG12) who are seeking an experienced SEN Class Teacher to join their team on a full‑time, permanent basis from September.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly experienced SEN teacher to take on a key role within a specialist setting, supporting pupils with a wide range of complex and profound learning difficulties, including PMLD, SLD, autism, complex medical needs, and physical disabilities.
The school has a strong ethos centred around inclusion, high expectations, and ensuring every pupil is supported to achieve their full potential.

Role: SEN Class Teacher
Contract: Full‑time, permanent
Pay Scale: UPS1 – UPS3 + SEN allowance (fringe)
Experience Level: Minimum 6 years’ SEN teaching experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver high‑quality, differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with PMLD and SLD
- Lead a class and ensure strong learning outcomes and pupil progress
- Deliver multi‑sensory, structured learning aligned with EHCPs and individual targets
- Use AAC strategies (e.g. PECS, Makaton, communication aids) to support communication
- Monitor, assess, and report progress, including contributions to EHCP reviews
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, therapists, and external professionals
- Contribute to curriculum development and wider school initiatives
- Support the pastoral development and wellbeing of pupils
About You:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Significant experience teaching pupils with PMLD / SLD and complex needs
- Strong understanding of EHCPs, SEN strategies, and inclusive practice
- Confident using sensory-based and communication-focused approaches
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to lead and manage a classroom team effectively
- Committed, reflective, and passionate about SEN education
